Perforated Metal Cylindrical Filters | Perforated Metal Filter Tube
Perforated Metal Cylindrical Filters utilize a sheet of metal that has been punched or laser-cut with a specific pattern of holes, then rolled and welded. While often used as stand-alone coarse strainers, their primary engineering function in high-performance filtration is to serve as the structural “backbone” (inner core or outer cage) for finer media like wire mesh or filter cloth.
Advantages of Perforated Metal Cylindrical Filters
- Structural Integrity: Provides the collapse strength required for high differential pressure applications.
- Flow Path Management: Hole patterns (staggered vs. straight) are designed to optimize open area while maintaining tube rigidity.
- Impact Resistance: Unlike mesh, perforated tubes can withstand heavy debris impact without tearing.
- Smooth Surface: Options for electropolishing make them suitable for sanitary applications.
Specification of Perforated Metal Cylindrical Filters
- Core Material: Carbon steel, SS304, SS316L, Aluminum, Monel, Inconel.
- Perforation Pattern: Round holes (most common), slotted holes (for high flow), or square holes. Patterns can be staggered or in-line.
- Hole/Slot Size: 0.5 mm to 10 mm diameter (for holes). Open area typically 20% to 60%.
- Core Dimensions: ID/OD from 10 mm to 600 mm; Lengths from 20 mm to 1500 mm.
- Wall Thickness: 0.5 mm – 5.0 mm.
Applications of Perforated Metal Cylindrical Filters
- Water Well & Borehole Screens: For sand control and groundwater extraction.
- Suction & In-Line Strainers: In pipelines for pumps, valves, and instrumentation.
- Process Filters in Petrochemical: For heavy oil, fuel, and solvent streams.
- Industrial: Basket strainers for debris removal.
