Wedge Wire Resin Traps | Johnson Screen Resin Trap Strainer | Media Trap Filter
High-performance Wedge Wire Resin Traps for ion exchange resin and media retention. Non-clogging Johnson-type resin trap strainers with precise slot openings, high strength, and low pressure drop. Custom sizes available.
Description
Wedge Wire Resin Traps are high-performance filtration components designed to retain ion exchange resins, catalyst beads, activated carbon, and other granular media while allowing process fluids to pass through with minimal pressure drop. They are widely used in water treatment systems, chemical processing, power generation, and industrial filtration units.
Manufactured using precision V-profile (wedge) wire technology, resin traps provide accurate slot openings, excellent mechanical strength, and long service life under continuous operation. Compared with perforated plates or woven wire screens, wedge wire resin trap strainers offer non-clogging performance, higher open area, and superior backwash efficiency.
These products are often referred to as:
- Johnson Screen Resin Traps
- Wedge Wire Media Trap Filters
- Resin Trap Strainers
- Ion Exchange Resin Retainers
They are typically installed at outlets of pressure vessels, filter housings, resin columns, and media tanks to prevent media loss and protect downstream equipment.
Advantages
Precise Media Retention
- Slot openings accurately control particle retention
- Prevents resin beads and media from escaping
- Suitable for fine resin sizes and mixed-bed systems
Non-Clogging Wedge Wire Design
- V-shaped wire creates self-cleaning slot geometry
- Reduces fouling and blinding compared to mesh screens
- Maintains stable flow rates over long operating cycles
High Open Area & Low Pressure Drop
- Open area up to 30–40%, significantly higher than perforated plates
- Minimizes head loss and improves system efficiency
Exceptional Mechanical Strength
- All-welded construction ensures rigidity and durability
- Withstands high differential pressure and frequent backwashing
Corrosion & Chemical Resistance
- Available in stainless steel and high-alloy materials
- Suitable for aggressive chemicals, high temperature, and continuous service
Customizable Design
- Diameter, length, slot size, end connections, and flange standards can be customized
- Compatible with existing Johnson-type resin trap assemblies
