Pleated Cylindrical Filters

Wire Mesh Pleated Cylindrical Filters | Pleated Filter Cartridge

Pleated Cylindrical Filters are engineered to maximize the effective filtration surface area within a given cartridge envelope. By pleating a flat sheet of filter media (stainless steel mesh, sintered mesh, or metal fiber felt) and forming it into a cylinder around a perforated support core, these elements can offer 3 to 10 times the surface area of a standard cylindrical filter of the same diameter and length. This design significantly reduces pressure drop, increases dirt-holding capacity, and extends service life.

Advantages of Pleated Cylindrical Filters

  • Compact Design: fits high-capacity filtration into small housing vessels.
  • High Surface Area: Dramatically increases contaminant loading capacity and service intervals.
  • Low Pressure Drop: The large area allows for high flow rates with minimal initial pressure loss.
  • Extended Service Life: More media area translates to longer time between change-outs or cleanings.
  • High Efficiency: Maintains high filtration efficiency even at fine micron ratings due to sufficient media area.

Specification of Pleated Cylindrical Filters

  • Pleat Media: Woven wire mesh (any alloy/weave), sintered mesh (for absolute ratings), sintered metal fiber felt (for high-efficiency depth filtration).
  • Filtration Rating: 1 μm to 200 μm, depending on the selected media.
  • Typical Dimensions: Outer diameters from 20 mm to 300 mm; Lengths from 50 mm (mini-pleats) to 1500 mm.
  • Support & Protection: Internal perforated core; optional external protective mesh or cage.
  • End Caps: Metal (stainless steel, aluminum) or polymeric, bonded with epoxy or welded.
  • Connections: Standard 222/226, 215/215, DOE, threaded (NPT, M), or custom designs.

Applications of Pleated Cylindrical Filters

  • Hydraulic & Lubrication Systems: High-pressure and return line filters.
  • Fuel Filtration: For diesel, gasoline, and aviation fuel.
  • Process Water & Ultrapure Water: Final particulate polishing.
  • Chemical Processing: Fine filtration of solvents, acids, and process fluids.
  • Compressed Air & Gas: Instrument air, breathing air, process gas.
