Cylindrical Extruder Screens for Polymer & Plastic Filtration | PFM SCREEN
Cylindrical extruder screens—also known as candle filters, screen cylinders, or cylindrical filter elements—are essential filtration components used in polymer melt processing, plastic recycling, chemical extrusion, rubber compounding, and high-viscosity fluid filtration.
Compared with flat screens or screen packs, cylindrical extruder screens offer 360° filtration surface, larger dirt-holding capacity, longer service life, and significantly reduced pressure drop. Their continuous flow design allows for stable melt quality, improved product consistency, and higher extrusion throughput.
PFM SCREEN manufactures cylindrical extruder screens using high-grade stainless steel, nickel alloys, monel, Inconel, titanium, and other specialty metals to meet high-temperature, high-pressure, and corrosion-challenging environments. With a comprehensive selection of mesh count, filter ratings, layer combinations, and fabrication methods, our cylindrical screens are engineered for precision filtration and long-term performance.
Advantages of Cylindrical Extruder Screens
1. Large Filtration Area
The 360° cylindrical design offers a larger effective filtration surface, ensuring smoother melt flow, lower pressure drop, and longer operating cycles.
2. High Strength for Harsh Conditions
Constructed from stainless steel or high-performance alloys, the screens withstand high temperature, high pressure, and mechanical stress in continuous extrusion.
3. Excellent Chemical & Corrosion Resistance
Suitable for polymer melt, chemicals, adhesives, and recycled plastics, ensuring stable filtration in corrosive or high-temperature environments.
4. Customizable for Any Extrusion System
Available in various diameters, lengths, mesh types, and end-cap styles to match OEM extruders and specific process demands.
5. Long Service Life
The cylindrical structure offers better dirt-holding capacity, reducing changeovers and lowering maintenance cost.
